Master Professor Gaetano Piro was born in Francavilla Fontana (Brindisi) on March 7, 1941, to a humble peasant family who, despite limited resources, always believed in the child's abilities, supporting him in his studies until he graduated in Economics and Business from the University of Bari.
From an early age, the Master demonstrated, in addition to a love of culture and a propensity for study, an artistic talent that manifested itself through his creations in clay and his creative cuisine.
As he grew older, he felt a growing desire for sculpture, focusing primarily on his beloved olive wood and stone, creating works of considerable artistic value, appreciated by numerous experts who have published his work in various national and international art books.
The Maestro's kind and romantic soul led him to create works whose themes range from the Sacredness of Woman to the mystery of God, from the sacred mystery of Motherhood to devotion to Christ, from the contemplation of the Universe and its expressions to Love, understood as the true essence of Life, which the Maestro loved deeply and considered a sacred Gift to be preserved and thanked for having received.
The Maestro created both small and monumental works from entire olive tree trunks weighing 18/20 quintals, which he worked entirely by hand with small hand tools.
