Masters of 2027 – The Documentary

1. SERVICE OVERVIEW

Masters of 2027 – The Documentary is an international documentary project produced by Contemporary Art Station, featuring a selection of contemporary artists and their artistic practices.

Each selected artist will receive an approximately 90-second individual documentary chapter, presenting their artistic journey through a combination of biography, artist statement, studio footage, exhibitions, achievements, archival material and selected artworks.

Each individual artist chapter will also form part of the longer collective documentary, Masters of 2027 – The Documentary, bringing together the stories, practices and work of the participating artists.

The project includes professional editing, production, sound and music integration, voice-over where applicable, delivery of the individual documentary and publication and distribution as described in these Terms & Conditions.

2. APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS

Participation in Masters of 2027 is subject to a selection process.

Submission of an application and payment of the participation fee does not automatically guarantee selection.

Applications will be reviewed by Contemporary Art Station. If an artist is not selected, 100% of the participation fee will be refunded within 48 hours following notification of the selection decision.

Once an artist has been selected and their participation confirmed, the participation fee becomes non-refundable.

Selection decisions made by Contemporary Art Station are final.

3. REGISTRATION & SUBMISSION OF MATERIALS

Once selected, the artist will receive a submission form detailing all materials required for the production of their documentary.

Requested materials may include:

  • Artist biography

  • Artist statement

  • High-resolution photographs

  • Studio and creative-process footage

  • Exhibition and art fair photographs or videos

  • Awards and career highlights

  • Archival or childhood photographs, where relevant

  • Four selected artworks and their corresponding information

  • Artist voice recording, where applicable

  • Other material considered relevant to the artist's story

It is the artist's responsibility to submit the requested materials within the deadlines communicated by Contemporary Art Station.

The artist is also responsible for ensuring that all submitted information is accurate, complete and final.

4. MATERIAL QUALITY

The quality of the documentary depends significantly on the quality of the materials supplied by the artist.

Artists are responsible for providing images, videos and audio recordings of sufficient quality for professional video production.

Contemporary Art Station cannot be held responsible for limitations in the final documentary resulting from materials that are:

  • Low resolution

  • Blurred or out of focus

  • Poorly lit

  • Heavily compressed

  • Incorrectly framed

  • Of poor audio quality

  • Otherwise unsuitable for professional video production

Where possible, our team may advise the artist if materials should be replaced or improved.

If suitable video footage is unavailable, Contemporary Art Station may create the documentary primarily using photographs, artworks and other visual materials supplied by the artist.

5. INDIVIDUAL ARTIST DOCUMENTARY

Each selected artist will receive an approximately 90-second individual documentary chapter.

Depending on the materials supplied, the documentary may feature:

  • Artist biography

  • Artist statement

  • Studio and creative-process footage

  • Exhibitions and art fairs

  • Awards and achievements

  • Archival or childhood material

  • Four selected artworks

  • Voice-over or the artist's own recorded voice

  • Music, titles and other audiovisual elements

The exact structure, duration of individual sections and selection of materials used will be determined by Contemporary Art Station according to the creative and editorial requirements of the documentary.

6. MASTERS OF 2027 – THE COMPLETE DOCUMENTARY

The artist understands and agrees that their individual documentary chapter will also be incorporated into the complete Masters of 2027 – The Documentary.

The individual chapters of the selected artists will be brought together to create a longer documentary celebrating contemporary artists, their work, their stories and the diversity of artistic practice today.

Contemporary Art Station reserves the right to determine the final structure, running order, duration, transitions, introduction, conclusion, music, graphics and overall editorial direction of the complete documentary.

The duration and format of the complete documentary will depend on the final number of participating artists and the editorial requirements of the production.

7. ARTISTIC DIRECTION & EDITING

All documentaries are produced according to the creative and editorial direction of Contemporary Art Station.

By participating in the project, the artist acknowledges and accepts the general visual style, format and documentary concept.

Our team will endeavour to represent each artist and their work accurately and professionally. However, final decisions regarding editing, pacing, sequencing, music, transitions, graphics, selection of footage and overall presentation remain with Contemporary Art Station.

8. DELIVERY & PUBLICATION

The individual artist documentary will be completed and delivered in January 2027.

Each selected artist will receive their individual documentary chapter in Full HD MP4 format.

The individual documentaries will also form part of the complete Masters of 2027 – The Documentary, with publication and distribution scheduled by Contemporary Art Station as part of the 2027 project.

Contemporary Art Station reserves the right to determine the exact release and publication dates during January 2027 and thereafter for promotional and distribution purposes.

Delays may occur in exceptional circumstances, including incomplete or late submission of materials, additional information being required, revisions, technical issues or circumstances reasonably outside our control.

9. REVISIONS / AMENDS

Reasonable amendments are permitted after the artist receives the first version of their individual documentary.

Amendments should relate to corrections or reasonable adjustments within the original scope of the project.

Major restructuring, substantial replacement of previously submitted materials, new voice recordings, extensive additional editing or changes requested after final approval may incur an additional fee.

Amendments to the overall Masters of 2027 – The Documentary, including its structure, sequence, presentation or the chapters of other participating artists, are not subject to individual artist approval.

Once the artist has approved their individual documentary, it will be considered final.

10. PARTICIPATION FEE & REFUND POLICY

The participation fee for Masters of 2027 – The Documentary is €525.

Participation is subject to the selection process described in these Terms & Conditions. Payment of the participation fee does not automatically guarantee selection.

If an applicant is not selected, 100% of the €525 participation fee will be refunded within 48 hours following notification of the selection decision.

Once an artist has been selected and accepted into Masters of 2027, the participation fee becomes final and non-refundable.

Refunds will not be provided following selection due to withdrawal, change of mind, failure to submit the required materials, dissatisfaction based on personal preference or circumstances outside the control of Contemporary Art Station.

11. PUBLICATION & DISTRIBUTION

The individual artist documentary may be published and promoted through Contemporary Art Station's digital channels, including its website, Instagram, YouTube and other relevant online platforms.

The artist's individual chapter will also be included in the complete Masters of 2027 – The Documentary, which may be published, screened, distributed and promoted through Contemporary Art Station's channels and other appropriate media, platforms, events or promotional activities.

Contemporary Art Station determines publication dates, platforms, schedules and distribution strategy.

12. ARTIST USAGE RIGHTS

Each participating artist will receive a Full HD MP4 version of their individual documentary.

The artist may use and share their individual documentary for their own professional and promotional purposes, including:

  • Personal website

  • Social media

  • Artist portfolio

  • Gallery and curator presentations

  • Exhibition promotion

  • Professional applications and presentations

The artist may not substantially alter, re-edit or misrepresent the documentary in a way that removes or misrepresents Contemporary Art Station's authorship or its connection with the Masters of 2027 project without prior permission.

13. RIGHTS TO MATERIALS PROVIDED

By submitting photographs, videos, artworks, audio recordings, texts and other materials, the artist confirms that they own the relevant rights or have obtained all necessary permissions for their use in the project.

The artist grants Contemporary Art Station permission to use, edit, reproduce, publish, adapt and incorporate submitted materials into:

  • Their individual documentary

  • Masters of 2027 – The Documentary

  • Trailers and teasers

  • Social media content

  • Website content

  • Press and publicity

  • Promotional materials relating to the project

The artist retains ownership of their original artworks and underlying intellectual property.

Contemporary Art Station cannot be held responsible for copyright, privacy, image-right or other third-party claims arising from materials supplied by the artist without the necessary permissions.

14. VOICE-OVER & ARTIST RECORDINGS

Artists may provide their own voice recording where requested or choose to have their biography and/or artist statement presented using a voice-over arranged by Contemporary Art Station.

The artist's own voice is recommended where possible, as it can provide a more personal and authentic documentary experience.

Artists providing their own recording are responsible for following the recording guidelines supplied and ensuring sufficient audio quality.

Contemporary Art Station may edit voice recordings for duration, clarity, pacing and integration within the documentary.

15. PROMOTIONAL USE

Contemporary Art Station may use reasonable excerpts, still images, trailers, clips and extracts from both the individual artist documentaries and the complete Masters of 2027 – The Documentary for promotional purposes.

Such promotional use may include websites, social media, newsletters, press communications, advertising, presentations, events and future promotion of the Masters documentary series and Contemporary Art Station.

16. NO GUARANTEE OF EXPOSURE OR COMMERCIAL RESULTS

Participation in Masters of 2027 does not guarantee any specific level of:

  • Views or social-media reach

  • Press or media coverage

  • Gallery representation

  • Artwork sales

  • Collector enquiries

  • Awards

  • Professional opportunities

  • Commercial or career results

Contemporary Art Station will provide the production, publication and promotional activities described in these Terms & Conditions but cannot guarantee outcomes resulting from third-party audiences, platforms, galleries, collectors, curators or media.

17. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Contemporary Art Station is not responsible for:

  • Limitations caused by poor-quality materials supplied by the artist

  • Incorrect, incomplete or misleading information supplied by the artist

  • Copyright, image-right or permission issues relating to artist-supplied materials

  • The performance, reach or engagement of the documentary after publication

  • Commercial or professional outcomes resulting from participation

  • Changes, restrictions, interruptions or technical issues affecting third-party platforms such as Instagram or YouTube

  • Delays resulting from incomplete or late materials

  • Circumstances reasonably outside the control of Contemporary Art Station

18. PROJECT SCHEDULE & FORMAT

Masters of 2027 is scheduled for completion and initial release in January 2027.

Contemporary Art Station reserves the right to make reasonable changes to publication dates, production schedules, documentary length, format, sequence and distribution strategy where necessary for the successful completion and promotion of the project.

Any reasonable change to the publication or distribution schedule will not affect the selected artist's entitlement to receive their individual documentary chapter as described in these Terms & Conditions.

19. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By registering and submitting payment for Masters of 2027 – The Documentary, the applicant confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

If selected, the artist also authorises Contemporary Art Station to produce their individual documentary and incorporate it into the complete Masters of 2027 – The Documentary in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
