Kristin Thomas
My work is rooted in prayer, scripture, and spiritual encounter. I create paintings and sculptural wall pieces that merge prophetic imagery with contemporary material experimentation. I’m drawn to themes of transformation, resilience, and light emerging out of pressure—mirroring both natural processes and spiritual truths. My intention is to make the unseen visible and to shift the atmosphere of a space through color, texture, and symbolic form.
I work in highly tactile layers using materials that carry meaning: modeling paste for structure, Gaffrey textures for movement, gold leaf and metallics for illumination, marble powders for endurance, and porcelain for purity and refinement. I hand-form porcelain flowers and sculptural elements, then embed them into mixed-media surfaces to create dimensional works that bridge painting and sculpture. These components aren’t decorative; they function as living metaphors—gardens becoming, kingdoms unfolding, identity rising, prayers taking form.
I approach each piece through revelation and observation. A scripture, a vision, or a moment in prayer often becomes the seed. Nature reinforces the message through shape, pattern, and light. From there, I build layers intentionally, allowing some areas to crack, bloom, or glow as a visual parallel to spiritual transformation.
